Welcome to Hollybush Under 5s

Hollybush Under 5s, a community pre-school group, occupies two ‘mobile’ classrooms situated in the far corner of the junior school playground, within the grounds of Hollybush Primary school.

We have a rating of Good by Ofsted and have completed the Herts Quality Standard Award. We have excellent links in the community and with many different professionals and services which support our quality provision.

Our custom built classrooms are completely self contained and include an enclosed rear garden. We also enjoy access to the school grounds, which have large playing fields, a nature area, pond and gardens.

We are a registered charity approved by Children Schools and Families at HCC. We are checked regularly by the Fire Officer to ensure we meet the required safety standards to care for pre-school children.

We are permitted to admit 24 children per session and aim for a staff/child ratio of 1:6, never exceeding 1:8. For 2 year olds 1:4. We are open 5 days per week from 9:00am—3:00pm.

The positive atmosphere of both staff and children is reflected in the classroom which is bright and colourful and the planned curriculum is delivered to the children through a series of topics, evidence of which is displayed throughout the building. Parents and carers are welcomed and encouraged to be a part of our community group and they form our management committee who are responsible for all aspects of running the group, which is non profit making. Our aim is to keep the fees as low as possible, whilst also providing trained staff, paying for everyday expenses and updating the equipment and materials. This is only possible due to the tireless efforts of both the management committee and the fund raising committee. These unpaid volunteers work very hard to make our playgroup such a success
